South Bend was the first map that I drew in my "road map" format, as opposed to the traditional "birds-eye view" cartoon maps that you normally see. I have fond memories of the penthouse suite that I stayed in, overlooking the river. The mornings there, just after sunrise, were beautiful. As a matter of fact, this was my very first motel stay in my map business. It became a road business after South Bend.
