Key Peninsula 1 is a memorable map for me because it was the second map that I drew in the new format that I had created, where I didn't caricature buildings on the map. It was designed to be a true road map, with cartoon icons that transform it into a "fun map". Key Peninsula is situated in South Puget Sound, and it's an ideal place to live. In fact, it's almost like living on one of Puget Sound's islands, yet Key Peninsula is only 30 minutes from Tacoma. When you're on the peninsula you feel like you're a million miles from the city. The quaint pastoral scenes and cozy little bays are abundant. Black bear are common here. This is the first of two Key Peninsula maps that I drew. Three and a half years after this map was released the chamber of commerce called me again and asked me to draw an update map. You'll find that right next to this one.
